Mountain bike travel is simple at its core—ride new trails, in new places, and experience the world from two wheels. But the reality is always deeper. It’s about chasing that same feeling in completely different terrain. A new path, a new place… a fresh grip on adventure.
This trip brought four riders from across the U.S. to explore Guatemala mountain biking at its best—volcanoes, jungle trails, and world-class singletrack.
Flying into Guatemala, the first thing you notice is the landscape. Misty peaks rise in every direction, and as the plane drops lower, you realize they aren’t just mountains—they’re volcanoes. The air sits in that perfect middle ground—cool, alive, and energizing.
A Two Wheel Epix guide met us outside the airport, bikes loaded quickly, and we headed straight to Antigua—one of the most iconic hubs for mountain biking in Guatemala.

We arrived during a massive flower festival. The streets of Antigua Guatemala were filled with vibrant floral displays stretching for blocks, glowing under candlelight at night. It set the tone immediately—this wasn’t just a riding trip, it was a cultural experience.
Before diving into the trails, it was time to get the bikes dialed.
Fresh tires always mark the real start of a trip.
For this ride, I ran Delium tires with a Rugged Adventure reinforced casing in the rear and the All Round construction up front—built for durability, grip, and speed across mixed terrain. The goal: test them across Guatemala’s unique conditions—volcanic soil, jungle dirt, and unpredictable trail surfaces.

Our first stop was Carmona Bike Park, located on the slopes of Volcán de Agua. If you’re looking for bike parks in Guatemala, this one stands out.
Riding here feels different. Thick jungle canopy, humid air, vines hanging overhead—it’s immersive in a way most bike parks aren’t.
The trails are fast and playful: jumps, berms, and endless flow. Perfect for getting comfortable early in a trip.
The Delium tires immediately felt solid. The reinforced rear casing handled heavy compressions and landings without hesitation, while the front tire tracked consistently through loose dirt and high-speed corners.
For riders searching for jungle mountain biking, this is as good as it gets.

Next, we headed to Lake Atitlán—arguably one of the most scenic places for mountain biking in Central America.
Surrounded by volcanoes and lined with traditional Mayan villages, Atitlán offers more than just trails—it’s a full cultural immersion. Over 25 languages are spoken in the region, and that depth shows in every part of the experience.
The highlight ride: sunset singletrack above the lake.
Descending in golden light with the lake glowing beside you is something every rider should experience. The terrain constantly shifts—loose volcanic gravel, roots, pockets of perfect dirt—keeping you engaged the entire time.
This is where tire performance really matters. The Delium setup felt planted and predictable, allowing me to focus on the ride instead of traction. That’s the key to great riding—confidence that lets you stay in the moment.
For anyone researching Lake Atitlán mountain biking, this zone delivers both scenery and technical riding in equal measure.
